About CONMAT 2003
Professional architects, engineers, material and
technology producers, and construction managers have several implementable
ideas and knowledge on pivotal concerns on various aspects of the
construction management and materials. Academicians and researchers
need to interact with the professionals for the exchange and/or
dissemination of information on their research and new developments
in these fields and their applications in new projects, retrofitting
and restoration works. Professionals involved in research of construction
management and materials are expected to participate in the deliberations
with a view to showcase their products before construction industries
effectively.
CONMAT 2003 is such a platform to deliberate on
these issues to be held at IIT Kharagpur during January 9-11, 2003.
CONMAT 2003 includes One day Workshop (Tutorial) on January
9, 2003 and Two days Conference during January 10-11, 2003.
The Workshop (Tutorial), though for the benefit of all concerned
in these inter-disciplinary fields, is limited to 30 seats on a
first come, first served basis. Interested participants are, therefore,
requested to register with the fees by May 15, 2002. They may, however,
submit the paper by July 15, 2002, if interested to register for
both the Workshop and Conference. In case of insufficient response
it will be three days' Conference only and the registration fees
will be fully refunded to those registered for the Workshop only.
The scope of the Conference includes, but not restricted
to rapid reconstruction for rehabilitation after natural hazards
like earthquakes, floods, etc. The main objective of the conference
is to exchange and share information on recent advances in construction
management and materials. The conference will help in consolidating
the validated views for proper inclusion in the practice.
Conference Themes
The main theme of the Conference will be Disaster
Resistant Construction Technologies and
Materials. Other topics will include (but not limited to):
Production planning, Cost and quality management: Risk analysis
and decision making, Supply chain management, Construction process
reengineering, Procurement management, Environment management, and
Safety management.
Information technology: Simulation models, Graphics, Information
systems, Electronic commerce, and Construction integration, Web-based
project management, Intelligent decision support systems.
Robotics, Automated inspection, Demolition/Remediation.
Innovative and Sustainable construction technologies: Construction,
rehabilitation, repair and restoration of civil engineering and
defense related structures.
The materials and technology include: cement, concrete reinforcement,
bricks/blocks, mortars, additives, ceramics, timber, steel, polymers,
geosynthetics, glass fibers, recycled materials and byproducts,
sealants, adhesives (in both particulate and solid forms), corrosion
technology.
Composite materials consisting of continuous synthetic fibers
and matrices for use in civil engineering structures.
New civil engineering materials, processing and field production
of the materials, evaluation of properties, applications and performance.
Developments and utilization of relatively inexpensive technologies
which use locally available, recyclable and environmentally friendly
materials.
Invited Lectures
A number of internationally recognized academicians
and leading practicing engineers in the fields of construction management
and materials will be invited to present their invited papers both
in the Workshop and Conference. The list of those Invited Speakers
will be announced later.
