IIT Campus

The campus is located in the town of Kharagpur in an idyllic environment. IIT Kharagpur is the oldest among the IITs and the campus is spread over a large area. Kharagpur is connected to all major cities in India by road and rail. The International Airport at Calcutta is about 130 km away. Kharagpur and Calcutta are well connected and the total journey takes about two and a half hours by rail.

All the basic facilities like hospital, medicine, stores, banks, post and telegraph offices,telecom centres, ISD/STD/FAX, internet link, grocery stores, food stalls/canteens, etc. are available within the Institute campus. Weather

The climate at Kharagpur during January is dry, moderately cool and usually pleasant.The temperature ranges between 10 to 20 degree Celcius.
